Making Picnics and Other Events Much Greener

Printer FriendlyTell a Friend
BOULDER - Green is quite a popular word right now.  Everybody is talking about greener cars and greener industries, but one Colorado company is on the cutting edge of the trend literally.

Eco-Products makes everything from disposable knifes to cups and plates out of renewable materials.  Instead of using fossil fuels, they use the starch from corn and sugar.  Because they use natural ingredients, after the product is used it can be composted.

The products have been used at the University of Colorado's Folsom Field, the PGA open and Peaberry Coffee.

The company was started by Steve and Kent Savage.  The father and son team saw potential in selling green products, so they began by selling renewable office supplies.  Quickly, however, that the real opportunities were awaiting in selling and eventually making green items for the food service industry.

Recently, the company began selling a line of eco-friendly plates and cups at King Soopers.  They're hoping to extend that line to include plastic ware and other items made by renewable materials.
